The GI Bill :

What is it?

The GI Bill is a bill that provided education for those returning from War War II and also gave them a year of unemployment compensation.
The bill was originally called the "Servicemen's Readjustment Act".

When was it created and why?

It was created in 1944 for the purpose of preventing another Bonus March of 1932 and to prevent another Depression after War War I.

Did it achieve its goals?

It did achieve its goals. It increased enrollment to higher education by a significant amount.

How were African Americans affected?

Who were critics of the bill and why?

Post 9/11 GI Bill?

The post 9/11 provided financial support for education and housing to individuals with at least 90 days of aggregate service on or after 9/11/01, or individuals discharged with a service-connected disability after 30 days. The person had to of had received an honorable discharge to be eligible for the post 9/11 GI Bill.
It became effective for training on or after August 1, 2009.
